Canon PIXMA MG5250 Review– Print quality is as good as ever of a Canon machine, with clean cut, held black text, bright, attention-grabbing color graphics and natural, well coloured photographs. Colour photocopies impressively close to the originals and the only place the printer falls down is when pressure to erect duplex pages. It seems then uses his dye-based black ink, which is not nearly as dense as the off-white or black one.
Erect duplex printing is very slow on both printers, with this one produce a speed of 2.8 sides per minute, and the cheaper machine offer only 2.1 spm. A full page color copy was much faster on the MG5250, competing in only 22s, when 43s on the MG5150. Similar improvements were evident when printing photos, where this machine a 15 x 10 cm photo in 53s from a computer and just 32s from an SD card.
The five ink cartridges are only available in one capacity, even if you have a Twin Pack of black ink to Wick and a triple pack of the three main colours can buy. Use the best prices we could find a cost per page of 3.6 p for ISO black and 8.9 p for ISO colour. This place pretty much in the middle of the range of current costs for range all-in-people, a little higher than some on black print and a penny or so lower on color.
Compare the Canon PIXMA MG5250 with its cheaper stable mate shows that, in this case, you get what you pay for. The extra £30 you buy a noticeably faster printer, which also supports wireless network connection and direct printing on CDs and Dvds. Print quality is generally very good, although erect duplex black print is a bit weak and print speed is also good, though again erect duplex results were weaker.
