Canon PIXMA MG3070 Review– There are several ways by which you can set the MG3070 to print/scan/copy as you like. You can blend in with a PC/laptop via USB, to connect to a wireless network or use a companion print Canon Inkjet/SELPHY (Yes, that’s the name!) apps. But before that, you need to install the device drivers on your computer.
If you think that the drivers are installed is all that’s necessary to get up on a Pixma MG3070 and running, you are wrong. Initial configuration on the MFP’s a little awkward, especially if you select wireless mode. This includes going through the wizard via companion PC application, as long as you press the buttons (and keep track of status LEDs) on the printer in a specific sequence. It took us a while to get things up and running, but once it’s over, it’s easy. We believe the extra effort involved in getting up and running due to the fact that we could make the connection through a secure enterprise Wi-Fi network.
On the other hand, configure the MFP through a SELPHY application is relatively simple. You just need to do is to turn on Wi-Fi on a smartphone and on MG3070 and follow the instructions in “step by step” to register it in the application. Once set, all print operations, scan and copy can be activated on the within application for yourself. Print speed with some B&W full-text documents of 7-8 pages per minute, and it drops to about 5 pages per minute in the case of documents that have images and text (some B&W). For colored papers, the speed is around 2-3 ppm. In the case of multi-page documents (e.g. PDFs), the first page takes a little longer (about 30 seconds) will be printed, along with the speed picked up a little later. Print speed and a great performance in the case of photos (4 inches x 6 inches size), with each coloured photo runs about 35-40 seconds to print.
