Canon PIXMA mini260 Review– New PIXMA mini260 the cartridge slot seems to have been built to take two cartridges, but the printer uses a cartridge that combines cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks in just a small tank. Even weirder is the 260, its modest four ink line-up, the most vivid colors and high contrast scenes, the true vitality and the skin tones that have life for them to redrip everything-Dead to deliver spectacular print quality manages. This is something very hard to get from inkjet printers.
PIXMA mini260 goes about the task at some speed, with unlimited 10x15cm photos taking the output of our tests just over a minute. Furthermore, the USB, PictBridge and IrDA (infrared) are all built-in, plus a good degree of versatility with a multiformat memory reader connections. Especially the latter is great for use in conjunction with the large and very open 2.5-inch LCD. Mini260 speed is good score. My tests took 1 minute to 1 second from 54 seconds to print from a computer and a CompactFlash card in the default quality.
Going extra mile, Canon has also built a wide range of image enhancement tools into the printer, for aspects such as brightness and contrast adjustments, normal or vivid color settings, face lighting and red eye removal. All these are available in stand-alone print mode, without being connected to a PC and easy to get and set through a simple menu system. Looking at excellent print quality, the 260 is hard to believe that its line-up uses only four inks. With subtle skin tones for vivid, high-contrast photos, 28p per 260 print worked, delivering excellent results every time, with reasonable modest running costs for ink and paper.
A durability flaw is a tendency to easily scratch prints. I just noticed a series of scratches on the surface from mixing to look at a typical kind of photos through the stack. This is not a killer deficiency, but it means you have to manipulate the photos in a more careful way than you might need on other printers. The cost per photo is 28 cents, enough ink using Canon’s $27.99 print package, and paper for 100 photos. This is true in the range of 27–29 cents in the smallest format where photo printers fall today. Mini260 offers sufficient to make more remarkable. But also be sure to look at the Epson Picturemate PAL lacks some of the thinnest to take with mini260 like a tilt LCD, the ability to crop photos, and a battery option but offers a comparable speed and output at a lower cost.
