Canon PIXMA MX531 Review– The control Panel is inserted into the front edge of the ADF and is well laid out for the functions the machine offers. The four buttons on the left switch between copy, fax, scan, and setting modes, and in the center is a 16-character mono LCD display. Although this does not have any backlight, we had no trouble reading it under normal overhead lighting.
To the right of the LCD is a numeric keypad for dial-up fax numbers and the far right there are two buttons for starting mono and color scans and copies. Folding down the entire front cover allowing access to the two cartridge holders, one for black and the other Tri-colour ink. They slide in from the front when you have clicked down a clamp bar which is raised to hold them in position.
The bottom left of the front panel is a single connector for connecting a USB drive. This can be used to scan images from flatbed or ADF, but there is no option to print from USB, which is a shame. The included software allows for scanning and printing, and there are also Canon Utilities for printing to the machine remotely from the cloud and for printing from IOS and Android devices. The Pixma MX531 has a single USB connection at the rear, but also wireless with fast and easy WPS setup.
