Canon PIXMA MG7150 Review– Canon MG7150 measures 46x37x15cm with output tray closed; Open it and you add 17cm to the middle number. There are two paper trays near the base, the top is for photo discs 6x4inch or 7x5inch and the lower tray is for A4. It weighs a tad over the 8kilos so you can even place it on a strong shelf as it doesn’t need to be tethered to the computer because it’s both USB and Wi-Fi.
When the output tray is lowered, three slots are displayed on the left side. A single touch button for on/off is the only visible control on the sloping front in front of the flatbed scanner. To the right of this in the middle of the slope is a 7x5cm TFT screen that controls everything.
A complete installation of the software will take up to 3GB or space. But you can choose which parts to install and my Image Garden is by far the most part of it. My tests found you got 16PPM in draft mode when you print a short document. A more normal document distributed on four sides was only slightly slower on 14.5 ppm.
But this is a six ink offer so you’d probably use it for more photo printing and I found an A4 page printed in just over a minute on photo paper. The specified number of sheets in the lower paper tray is 125, in my opinion it is much smaller, when I had 50 sheets in it I considered it very full.
The scanner has a maximum interpolation position of the 2400×4800. A page scans in around the 15seconds and can be saved as an image, a PDF, or even imported as text for OCR. Copying takes around 15seconds and does not need any connection to the computer in fact, this can be done without the computer even being turned on. There are size reductions and multiple copy options available.
The touchscreen TFT screen is easy to follow; The normal Start screen has only three icons, copy, scan and cloud. But flip this left and the display shows Eco settings, Quiet settings and setup. Turn to the right and you get WLAN, advanced printing and photo. As with the latest devices, there is an app that allows you to print remotely from what Canon describes as “small devices”. You can also print from the cloud. From PIXMA Cloud, you can also print letterheads and templates.
