Canon PIXMA MX885 Review– Canon PIXMA MX885 All-in-ones that use the same or very similar printing machines. The series of MX printers, such as PIXMA MX885 reviewed here, is focused on the Soho market, rather than primarily on photographic enthusiasts. Includes automatic document feeder (ADF), rather than direct CD/DVD printing and duplex printing and copying.
This is a large, All-black Box, with a fairly too high gloss-black plastic that will quickly apply to fingerprints. It’s never been a particularly good look, so why provide the surface you need to keep polishing with a soft cloth? The ADF is tilted to a relatively steep angle, partly due to the fact that it must be aligned with the two-sided sliding path. The control panel is unusual to have 16 buttons without a legend on them. The Canon has a cleverly used LED backlight for these buttons to provide them with two completely separate sets of features. It’s kinda like a touch panel on the lids of some of the PIXMA mg range, except here it is combined with less-expensive, conventional buttons.
In one mode, the arrow keys for navigating in the menu are displayed on a large, 75mm colored LCD screen, while in the other, which flashes when you select Fax-they show the numeric keypad. There are also four buttons for copying, faxing, scanning and reading photos, and more to start and stop scanning, faxing, and copying tasks. Under the Control Panel, the front panel folds down to become the output tray and underneath it is a 150-sheet plain paper feed tray, with another pull-up tray at the back that can be used for plain or photographic paper.
The curved cover at the right end of the front panel reveals the memory card slot for the main types and there is a USB/PictBridge Socket below. There are sockets for USB and Ethernet connections, but the device also supports wireless and handles WPS settings, but only with a password.
